Concern for the environment is an integral part of operation of BSO Polska. Its activities involve:

• constant raising of ecological awareness among employees, growers and suppliers
• pursuing the goal of reducing  thermal and electric energy consumption per unit
• pursuing the goal of using of fuel characterised by best possible parameters and running the combustion process in the least environment affecting way;
• minimising the risk of uncontrolled leak of liquids stored in tanks;
• making effort to minimise the amount of produced waste;
• reducing of the load of pollutants in effluents generated on site to improve treatment process;
• reducing of the negative impact on the environment caused by storage, reloading or transportation of materials and products;

BSO Polska will aim at meeting the requirements of the ISO 14001: 2004 international norm as well as implementing and certification of the environmental management system in compliance with the requirements of this norm.

Significant environmental aspects

As an enterprise aiming at the certification of the implemented system BSO Polska has identified the elements of activities which may considerably affect the environment. Among them there are:

• cleaning of industrial effluents and sewage;
• water abstraction and treatment of effluents;
• preparing of raw materials for the production process;
• sugar manufacturing;
• fuel combustion;
• limestone burning;
• animal feed production;
• sugar packing.

Management of the above mentioned aspects entails determining objectives and environmental programmes, realisation of which contributes to the gradual minimisation of environmental impact.
